A BIT ABOUT US

HRnet (Health Research Network) is an independent, non-profit research organization headquartered in Yaoundé, Cameroon. Founded in 2025, we are dedicated to conducting high-quality research and evaluation on population and health issues in Central Africa and beyond.

Central Africa is home to over 190 million people, yet the region produces a fraction of the continent's health research output. This gap means that policies affecting millions are often based on evidence generated elsewhere. HRnet was established to change this — by building a centre of research excellence rooted in the region it serves.

Our work is organized around three integrated pillars: research that generates actionable evidence, capacity development that strengthens the region's research ecosystem, and community engagement that ensures our work is grounded in real needs and reaches the people it is meant to serve.

We are a young organization with an ambitious vision: a Central Africa where health decisions are informed by rigorous, locally produced scientific evidence. We are building toward this goal through partnerships with academic institutions, government agencies, civil society organizations, and communities across the region.

OUR VISION

OUR MISSION

A Central Africa where health policy and practice are driven by locally produced scientific evidence, and where communities have the knowledge and capacity to improve their own health.

To improve health outcomes in Central Africa by producing high-quality, policy-relevant research and building local capacity for evidence-informed decision-making.

OUR VALUES

Scientific Rigour — We uphold the highest standards of research integrity, methodology, and ethical practice in every project we undertake.

Local Ownership — We believe the most impactful health research is led by African researchers addressing African priorities.

Transparency — We are open about our methods, findings, funding, and governance. Our evidence is produced for the public good.

Collaboration — We work across disciplines, institutions, and borders, building partnerships that amplify our collective impact.

Equity — We centre the needs of underserved communities and work to ensure that the benefits of research reach those who need them most.

HRnet Process

Our process is changing and evolving as we learn from each research project, the users and stakeholders involved.

It combines various known elements into a unique mix that is both flexible and appropriate to the nature of our work.
